Hey guys its Caitlyn back after I don’t know how long but as some of you know we had an earthquake in Kaikoura and wow did it do damage anyway they will need to have a lot of resilience to get through this one anyway this is breaking news. Questions for this week's blog
What happened? At 12:02am Kaikoura and southern Wellington were woken by a 5.1 Magnitude earthquake and this has caused about 4-5000 aftershocks in the last week and buildings are still being secured and people were evacuated from their homes because of a tsunami warning and a bigger earthquake but the next morning some people came home to see that they were robbed after leaving with a tsunami warning. hundreds of people
What are the facts about the earthquake?
1.The earthquake was a 7.8 Magnitude.
2.A ship from Canterbury got the tourists out.
3.The S.S Canterbury has brought in a whole cargo ship of supplies for those who live in kaikoura and all those affected by it.
4.This has left 2 dead and many more injured.
5.There were houses robbed after people were evacuated because of a tsunami warning.
Who has been affected?
Thousands of people were affected and two families are grieving for the 2 people killed by the quake and a little girl in a wheelchair who lost everything in the quake.
Who else felt the quake?
South wellington and some of the North and South Island.
What does this mean for NZ?
Umm well this will take years to fix so this will cost John key millions to get the tourist attraction up and running again so this means people fundraising and the red cross sending things like blankets and toys down.

Tips to survive an earthquake:
1.make up a survival kit and put in a easy to grab place and practice the stop drop and hold for during an earthquake preparation.
2.When an earthquake happens drop and hold something stable like a table or leg of your bed never hold a chair because it will just jump away.
3.After, you should try and ring a family member and say there was an earthquake you are fine then go to a safe house or go and see if your neighbors are fine.
