Breaking news (I'm a week late)!!!!

Hey guys its Caitlyn back after I don’t know how long but as some of you know we had an earthquake in Kaikoura and wow did it do damage anyway they will need to have a lot of resilience to get through this one anyway this is breaking news. Questions for this week's blog

What happened? At 12:02am Kaikoura and southern Wellington were woken by a 5.1 Magnitude earthquake and this has caused about 4-5000 aftershocks in the last week and buildings are still being secured and people were evacuated from their homes because of a tsunami warning and a bigger earthquake but the next morning some people came home to see that they were robbed after leaving with a tsunami warning. hundreds of people

What are the facts about the earthquake?

1.The earthquake was a 7.8 Magnitude.

2.A ship from Canterbury got the tourists out.

3.The S.S Canterbury has brought in a whole cargo ship of supplies for those who live in kaikoura and all those affected by it.

4.This has left 2 dead and many more injured.

5.There were houses robbed after people were evacuated because of a tsunami warning.

Who has been affected?
Thousands of people were affected and two families are grieving for the 2 people killed by the quake and a little girl in a wheelchair who lost everything in the quake.
Who else felt the quake?
South wellington and some of the North and South Island.
What does this mean for NZ?
Umm well this will take years to fix so this will cost John key millions to get the tourist attraction up and running again so this means people fundraising and the red cross sending things like blankets and toys down.

Here are some handy tips to survive an earthquake.
Tips to survive an earthquake:
1.make up a survival kit and put in a easy to grab place and practice the stop drop and hold for during an earthquake preparation.
2.When an earthquake happens drop and hold something stable like a table or leg of your bed never hold a chair because it will just jump away.
3.After, you should try and ring a family member and say there was an earthquake you are fine then go to a safe house or go and see if your neighbors are fine.
Thanks for reading now here are some pics of the damage see ya next week,Bye!

Last Friday

This was last term
Hi everyone I did something awesome last week and it was called learning in the making conference and it was cool well I think my last workshop was pretty cool but anyway I better get into the important stuff.
Last Friday I went to my first ever learning in the making conference.First we had a talk with a guy but I forgot his name but anyway he told us about what jobs there might be in the future like if you were in Africa and could do an operation with a game controller because you had a robot do it for you and you control it.After I went to the mad scientist returns with Mrs b We had a balloon, a straw and tape you needed to try and come up with a way to make your balloon go the furthest mine didn’t work but it was still fun. Next I did team building with Ra we did played a game called spotty problem and we nearly then we played a game called the Simpsons family it was tricky but it was fun. After that I did film making and it was awesome! I did it with Tayla and we made a short film and was a very good one to watch we did four parts the first two we got lost watching a game of touch and in the 2nd to last we went on a tour to watch the hula hoop show and I got lost in the last shot but I found home again. So what were the key points of this post?

What was your favourite workshop and why? I liked the film-making because I learnt a lot about the camera and how to make a short film.

What new skills did you learn? I have got a bit of teamwork and problem solving.

What else did you learn? I learned that if something doesn’t work you need to keep trying no matter what.

Holiday recount

Hello guys and girls, I know what you are thinking, no i didn’t blog during the holidays but I am going to tell you why. In the holidays I went on a two day course for st.john and on the course I got two badges that are needed. If you are wondering what they were I did community awareness and communication and I got both. How did I get them? Well for community awareness me and 3 other girls from different divisions over the north island we were going to make a map of pearoe but we did a board game on pearoe. We called it Pearoe-oply and for short pie-oply. For communication we learned different ways to communicate and new languages we did some sign language and a session where we had a disaster for example an elderly man has collapsed and is unresponsive, we had to ring the ambulance (not for real) and answer the questions and got points.Well other then that I didn’t do much but I hope you had a great holiday and I will blog you next week.

Cross country

On Monday it was cross country so me and mum went to south Farms. When my race started I didn’t stop running and came up in 10th place. I am really happy with that. Before my race I cheered on a lot of people and they cheered me on. It was my first cross country at Ngatea, but it was more fun than Kerepehi. I nearly came 9th but after running the whole way I just couldn't do it, but I did try and don’t need a gold medal to prove it but I wish I could relive that moment again. I came home tired but happy. I love cross country!

goals

Hey it’s me and sorry I haven’t been posting but it’s time for a school blog, this week is goal week and I have a few that I want to share with you so let’s start with my math goals,
1.Add 2 or 3-digit whole numbers
2.Show place value with an abacus
3.Adding shapes to a repeating pattern
How am I achieving these goals? Well for the first one I am useing the ones and tens then I add I add it all together here is an eg. 112+30 2 +3 is 5 and 10+30 is 40 and that means the answer is 145. I am also working on 2 and 3 but 1 is my focus.

Now you know my maths goals now on to my writing goals,
1.Write a pharoghafe.
2.Remember my capitals and full stops.
3.Spell words without spell check.
How am I achieving these goals?  these goals? Well I get close to spelling words but one thing is always in the wrong place or I forget a letter but I am trying to do my other goals to.
Well that’s my blog for this week so I hope you guys enjoyed my post I hope you are achieving your goals too.

My leaning of the week

Hi guys it's Caitlyn and since it's the  last week of Team 1 I decided to show you some leaning that I'm proud of this called the lonely Jaguar and part 2 is coming soon so if you want to find out what happens to Maya and bananas like and comment
Screenshot 2016-04-06 at 11.41.26.png

The lonely jaguar
Once there was a jaguar who lived all alone in a tree just out of the rainforest.
Why did it live all alone? Cause all the animals hated her and thought she was going to hurt them, so they kicked her out of the rainforest.
She really was’t scary she loved to paint and she was a vegetation but they did not believe that she was a vegetation or liked to paint they thought she only said that so could hurt them. One day a monkey was swinging from tree to tree and accidentally swung into Maya’s tree! Luckily Maya was’t home but bananas spoke to soon and Maya came climbing up the tree and bananas was stuck in her bed of leaves and mud maya finally reached bananas and Maya helped him and Maya talked for hours and when the sun started to go down and bananas family started to worry “oh where is he?” Said his mother “no Idea” said his dad.
